Surah Rahman in English Translation

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

55|1| الرَّحْمَـٰنُ 

1- The most compassionate

55|2|عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ

2- Taught the Quran,

55|3|خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ

3- Created humanity,

55|4|عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ

4- And taught them speech

55|5|الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ

5- The sun and the moon travel with precision

55|6|وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ

6- The stars and the trees bow down in submission

55|7|وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ

7- And He raise the heaven and set the balance.

55|8|أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ

8- So that you do not defraud the scales

55|9|وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ

9- And establish weight with fairness and do not diminish the weight.

55|10|وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ

10- He laid out the earth for all the creatures.

55|11|فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ

11- In it are fruit, palm trees with date sheaths,

55|12|وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُ

12- And grains that grow on stalks, and aromatic plants.

55|13|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

13- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|14|خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِن صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ

14- He created the human being from sounding clay like pottery,

55|15|وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ

15- And created the Jann from a smokeless flame of fire.

55|16|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

16- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|17|رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِ

17- He is Lord of the two easts and the two Wests.

55|18|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

18- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|19|مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ

19- He merges the two seas that meet each other

55|20|بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ

20- But between them is a barrier that they never transgress.

55|21|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

21- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|22|يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ

22- They extract out of both waters, pearls and coral. 

55|23|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

23- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|24|وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنشَآتُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ

24- To Him belong the ships built high on the seas, sailing through the seas like peaks.

55|25|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

25- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|26|كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ

26- Everyone on earth will perish.

55|27|وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

27- Only your Lord himself, full of Majesty and Generosity, will remain forever.

55|28|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

28- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|29|يَسْأَلُهُ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأْنٍ

29- All those in the heavens and the earth are beseeched on Him. Every day He has something to bring about. 

55|30|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

30- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|31|سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ الثَّقَلَانِ

31- We will soon attend to you, O two multitudes of jinn and humans

55|32|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

32- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|33|يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا مِنْ أَقْطَارِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَانفُذُوا ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَانٍ

33- O assembly of jinn and humans! If you can penetrate beyond the domain of the heavens and the earth, then do so. but you can’t do that without our power.

55|34|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

34- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|35|يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ

35- There will be sent against you both, flames of fire and molten copper and you will not be able to defend yourself.

55|36|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

36- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|37|فَإِذَا انشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ

37- When the heaven will divide, how horrible will it be, becoming rose-red like burnt oil

55|38|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

38- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|39|فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْأَلُ عَن ذَنبِهِ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَانٌّ

39- There will be no need for humans and jinn to be asked about their sins on that day

55|40|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

40- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|41|يُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَاهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِي وَالْأَقْدَامِ

41- Their look will realize the evil and they will be seized by their forelocks and feet

55|42|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

42- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|43|هَـٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ

43- This is the Hel which the evils denied.

55|44|يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ آنٍ

44- They will go between its flames and extremely hot water.

55|45|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

45- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|46|وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ

46- And whoever is in fear of standing in front of his Lord, will have two gardens.

55|47|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

47- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|48|ذَوَاتَا أَفْنَانٍ

48- Both will be with rich branches.

55|49|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

49- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|50|فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ

50- There are two running springs in them.

55|51|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

51- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|52|فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ

52- In them are two pairs of every fruit.

55|53|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

53- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|54|مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍ بَطَائِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى الْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ

54- Reclining on carpets with linings of brocades, and the fruit of the two gardens will be near hands.

55|55|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

55- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|56|فِيهِنَّ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ

56- There will be maidens of modern glance in both gardens.

55|57|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

57- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|58|كَأَنَّهُنَّ الْيَاقُوتُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ

58- As if they were rubbies or coral.

55|59|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

59- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|60|هَلْ جَزَاءُ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَّا الْإِحْسَانُ

60- Is the reward for goodness anything but goodness?

55|61|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

61- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|62|وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ

62- And beside them are two gardens.

55|63|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

63- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|64|مُدْهَامَّتَانِ

64- And they are dark green

55|65|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

65- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|66|فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ

66- There will be two effusive springs in each of them.

55|67|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

67- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|68|فِيهِمَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ

68- In them are fruits, palm trees, and pomegranates.

55|69|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

69- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|70|فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَاتٌ حِسَانٌ

70- There are good and noble mates in them.

55|71|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

71- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|72|حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَاتٌ فِي الْخِيَامِ

72- Maidens with gorgeous eyes, reserved in tents.

55|73|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

73- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|74|لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ

74- No human and jinn have ever touched them before.

55|75|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

75- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|76|مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍ

76- Leaning on a green cushion and beautiful sheet. 

55|77|فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

77- Then which of your Lord’s blessings will you both deny?

55|78|تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

78- Blessed be the name of your Lord, possessor of glory and honour.
